What Are Source of Funds (SOF) and Source of Wealth (SOW)?

Assets (for verification)

Refers to the approximate total value of all assets under your name, converted into fiat currency equivalent. This encompasses traditional financial assets (cash, deposits, securities, funds, real estate, etc.) and crypto assets.

Source of Wealth (SOW)

Refers to the primary means through which you accumulated your total assets. Please select the main contributor to your overall wealth.

Common examples: Salary/wages, business income, inheritance/gifts, investment and trading returns.

Funds (for verification)

Refers to the total amount of fiat currency or cryptocurrency you deposit into your exchange account (e.g., ETZ).

Source of Funds (SOF)

Refers to the origin of the money/crypto used for your deposit - the activity that generated these specific funds.

If you haven't deposited but are required to provide SOF, describe the activity generating the funds you plan to deposit.

Note: SOF isn't limited to "income." Funds can come from salaries, insurance payouts, inheritance, asset disposals, or other sources not directly related to employment income.

Transfer Method/Transaction Trail Evidence

Documents used to verify the deposit path and source, such as:

Bank statements showing fiat deposits to the exchange
On-chain transfer records (source wallet address → exchange deposit address)

Why Proof of SOF/SOW is Required

For account security and compliance: The exchange must adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations. The platform collects SOF/SOW explanations and supporting evidence to fulfill regulatory obligations.

General Requirements for Acceptable Documents

All submitted documents must meet these conditions:

Name Consistency: Documents must be issued in your own name. If a document is under a third party's name, please select "Other (Please specify)" under "Source of Funds/Assets" and clarify the document's content and your relationship with the third party.
Authentic and Verifiable: No forgeries or alterations permitted. Violations may result in account termination.
Clear and High Quality: ≥300 DPI recommended. No highlighting/editing unless requested. The entire page must be readable with all key information visible.
Issuer Information: Must show issuing institution's name/logo.
Issue Date: Timeframe must be identifiable.
Recent Records: Latest payslip (last month), most recent tax return, or current-year property sale contract.
File Format: Original PDF or photos showing all corners. Screenshots accepted; heavily cropped files not recommended.

Typical Document Examples (by Source Type)

Salary/Wages: Recent 3-6 months' payslips, employer-issued employment and compensation certificates, individual income tax returns/tax payment certificates, bank statements showing salary deposits.
Business/Self-Employment Income: Business licenses/tax returns, corporate/personal settlement account statements, audit reports/financial statements, dividend distribution resolutions with corresponding deposit records.
Investment/Trading Returns: Securities/funds/futures statements, cryptocurrency transaction records, proof of profit distribution or redemption, corresponding bank deposit records.
Proceeds from Asset Disposal (e.g., Real Estate/Vehicles/Equity): Sales contracts, proof of transfer, receipt/payment records, tax completion documents.
Inheritance/Gifts: Notarized deeds of inheritance/gift, court judgments/mediation statements, execution documents, along with proof of receipt of the funds/assets.
Insurance Payout/Compensation: Insurance company's claim decision documents and payment proof, corresponding bank deposit records.
Savings/Accumulated Funds: Bank statements covering a sustained period, fixed-term/installment savings certificates, historical records of matured wealth management product redemptions.

Principle: The evidence must form a closed loop (Source explanation ↔ Transaction/Receipt record ↔ Account ownership), be logically consistent, correspond in amount, and match in timeframe.

Unacceptable Materials (Examples)

Documents that typically do not align with the declared source or cannot clearly verify the origin of funds/assets will be subject to review outcome. Examples include:

Documents whose authenticity cannot be verified or where key information is missing/illegible.
Oral statements alone without supporting evidence.
Documents inconsistent with the declared source path (e.g., claiming salary income but providing no corresponding salary deposit bank statements).
Heavily cropped or edited materials rendering key information unreadable.
Materials where the issuing entity or issuance date cannot be confirmed.

If necessary, the review team may contact you to request further clarification or additional documents.

Practical Tips (For a Smooth Review Process)

Identify Primary Sources: Focus your SOW/SOF declaration on 1-2 main channels to avoid fragmented evidence.
Align Amounts and Timeframes: Ensure the value and time period reflected in your documents support the declared asset amount or deposit size.
Establish a Complete Fund Trail: Demonstrate a clear flow, for example: "Salary → Salary Account Deposit → Transfer to Exchange" or "Asset Sale → Receiving Account → Deposit Record".
Bilingual Identification: For cross-border documents, provide brief translations/comparisons to avoid identification delays due to language barriers.
Crypto Funds: Provide on-chain transaction hashes, source address attribution explanations, and, if necessary, supplementary proof of OTC purchases or fiat deposit records.

Company Dividends or Profit	Latest dividend payment statement/dividend distribution agreement; Latest bank statements showing dividend payments; Latest tax return showing dividend income/company profit; Latest audited company accounts explaining dividend distribution details. Note: For irregular dividends, proof must cover all funds deposited into the ETZ account. Documents must be signed, stamped, or digitally verified in accordance with local legal requirements. Sale of Financial Assets	Investor-provided sale declaration; or sale transaction receipt; or other documents proving proceeds from the asset sale, along with a bank statement showing the sale proceeds; or a tax return declaring the asset sale proceeds. Note: Documents must have been issued within the last 3 months (except tax returns/where technically not feasible). The sale date must be prior to or within the top-up period.
Sale of Crypto Assets	Exchange statement or other statement showing transactions where cryptocurrency was sold into fiat; or receipts or confirmations of transactions where cryptocurrency was sold into fiat; a bank statement showing proceeds from the sale of crypto assets; or a tax return detailing capital gains from the sale of crypto assets. Note: Documents must have been issued within the last 3 months, except tax returns (which must cover the sale year). The sale date must be prior to or within the top-up period.
Sale of Real Estate or Other Assets	Sale contract; or settlement/closing statement; or confirmation letter issued by a legal/real-estate professional detailing the sale of the asset. Along with a bank statement showing the sale proceeds; or a tax return declaring the sale proceeds. Note: For jointly owned property, declare only your portion of the sale (consistent with the bank statement/tax return). The sale date must be prior to or within the top-up period. Bank statements must be issued within the last 3 months; tax returns or other documents must cover the sale period. Purchase contracts for real estate/other assets are not accepted (sale contracts only).
Inheritance	Copy of will/testament; or confirmation letter signed by executor/lawyer/will verifier; or distribution statement issued by executor/administrator; or tax return declaring inherited asset amount, along with a bank statement showing inherited assets deposited into your account. Note: If you have sold the inherited asset and deposited fiat funds into your ETZ account, choose the “Sale of Real Estate or Other Assets” category. Bank statements must be dated within the last 3 months; tax returns must cover the inheritance year. Inheritance documents must be dated prior to or within the top-up period.
Gift / Donation	Gift/donation agreement; or a signed letter confirming gift/donation details (dated within the last 3 months) along with the donor’s ID; or confirmation letter or receipt issued by a charity/non-profit organization detailing the gift/donation, along with a bank statement showing the gifted/donated amount received. Note: If the gift/donation amount is large, select “Other (please specify)” and explain the donor’s source of funds/source of wealth, attaching supporting documents and the donor’s ID. Gift/donation documents must be dated prior to or within the top-up period.
Peer-to-Peer (C2C) Transactions	Account statements and transaction history showing date, asset type, and transaction amount; and top-up and withdrawal records from the C2C platform used; and a bank statement showing the counterparty’s C2C top-up record; or a tax return declaring C2C transaction income; and supporting documents proving the source of funds for the transactions. Note: Documents (except tax returns) must have been issued within the last 3 months and cover at least one year. You may also send additional supporting documents or communications with C2C counterparties to expedite review.
Arbitrage Trading	Account statements and transaction history from all platforms used for arbitrage trading, showing date, asset type, and transaction amount; and top-up and withdrawal records from the arbitrage platform used; and a bank statement showing arbitrage-related deposits; or a tax return declaring arbitrage trading income; and supporting documents proving the source of funds for arbitrage activity. Note: Documents (except tax returns) must have been issued within the last 3 months and cover at least one year.
Official Confirmation Issued by a Qualified Professional	A confirmation letter issued by a qualified professional such as a lawyer, accountant, financial advisor, or tax professional, verifying the source and amount of all funds deposited into your account. Note: The document must show the certifier’s name, address, position, registration number, and other relevant details, and must be signed and/or stamped according to local legal requirements.
Other (please specify)	Any relevant documents that can be used to verify the source of funds (as per the instructions).
